I'm Kane Williams. I'm an associate director from GTA consultants now Stantec. We're a traffic and transport engineering firm. Working on small scale to large scale projects, anything from small townhouse developments, all the way through to level crossing removal program and state significant projects.
One of the really interesting things about working in the engineering industry is understanding of the level of input that goes into projects that are delivered. Seeing something delivered that you've worked on particularly in the community that you live within is super rewarding and really satisfying.
Yeah, finishing high school. I really didn't have a clear understanding of what I wanted to do, apply for subjects that I was stronger in and I was accepted into the, ultimately in the advanced diploma of civil engineering. Completing the VET course gave me an opportunity to to work whilst completing my studies. That was a real positive for me and a really attractive point of the course. Advice to students today from my experience would be to choose subjects that you're interested in.
I think if you're interested in you're more likely to commit to them. And then ultimately that'll lead to something that you like doing.
