The Social Services Regulator (SSR) has appointed an administrator (Ernst & Young) to operate the Greenslopes SRS facility from 5 March. The administrator will be supported by a local area health organisation.
The appointment follows a decision in December by the SSR to revoke the registration of the provider of the Greenslopes SRS, Sohal & Company Pty Ltd.
As not all residents have relocated, the administrator will ensure that services can continue for remaining residents at the facility while relocation arrangements are put in place.
The SSR’s decision to revoke the registration of Greenslopes SRS is among the most serious actions available to the SSR and was considered necessary to protect residents from significant risk of harm due to the provider’s failure to meet standards.
This followed significant engagement with Greenslopes SRS over the last 18 months aimed at addressing issues within the facility, and previous work by the former Human Services Regulator.
Residents, their nominees and next of kin have been provided with regular communication about the decision and support has been available over the last 12 weeks.
The SSR will continue to liaise with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Homes Victoria, The Salvation Army, NDIA, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission and Commonwealth Department of Health Disability and Aging to support positive outcomes for the remaining residents.
Residents and their families can contact The Salvation Army on 9890 7144(opens in a new window) or via their website(opens in a new window) to find accommodation that feels comfortable, secure, and has the supports that they need.
