SUBJECT: Professional development for Learn Local educators: Gender equity

Actions and critical dates

15 August 2023 @ 2:00-4:00 pm (Workshop 1)

17 August 2023 @ 2:00-4:00 pm (Workshop 2)

This professional development program aims to raise awareness of gender equity principles and provide strategies to enhance access, participation, and outcomes for ACFE learners. By participating in this PD, Learn Local educators, trainers, and managers can become role models and promote gender equality by:

  • building their awareness of gender equity
  • debunking stereotypes, exploring positive and negative biases and promoting gender-neutral language
  • applying a gender lens to teaching practice
  • promoting gender equity in the classroom
  • understanding workforce expectations with regard to gender equity
  • contributing to sustainably achieving gender equality by becoming change agents.

The gender equity PD will specifically focus on the impact of gender equity in terms of strategies for:

  • staff recruitment
  • engaging adults in Learn Local programs
  • pre-course interviews with potential learners
  • enrolment into appropriate Learn Local programs
  • classroom and teaching approaches and strategies etc.
