The Commissioner for Economic Growth

Information about the Commissioner and her role in supporting economic growth in Victoria.

The Commissioner for Economic Growth provides advice to Government on key economic issues impacting Victorians, directed by the Minister for Finance.

To inform this advice, the Commissioner meets regularly with industry groups, peak bodies, regulators, businesses, research bodies and government agencies to understand their interactions with different parts of the Victorian economy.

Katrina McKenzie was appointed as the Commissioner for Economic Growth Victoria and Better Regulation Victoria in September 2025.

Katrina brings extensive leadership experience across the economic, regulatory and public sectors, including senior roles with the City of Melbourne and City of Greater Dandenong.

As Commissioner of Economic Growth and Better Regulation Victoria, she leads work to drive economic growth, enhance regulatory efficiency and deliver on the Victorian Government’s Economic Growth Statement.
