Congratulations to Shirley Darcy, Bendigo TAFE and Kangan Institute for big wins at the Australian Training Awards on Friday night.
Shirley Darcy was awarded the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award. Shirley was an inaugural participant in a First Nations pilot of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at The Gordon, and is now teaching the Diploma of Community Services to First Nations students.
Bendigo TAFE and Kangan Institute (Bendigo Kangan Institute) took out the Large Training Provider of the Year Award. They are one of Victoria’s largest and most progressive vocational education and training (VET) providers, delivering forward-thinking qualifications that respond to skills gaps and emerging industry needs.
Many of our other Victorian representatives also placed in the finals:
- Tarmi A'Vard, runner-up for the Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award
- HYDAC Group and The AI Training Group, silver for Australian Apprenticeships Employer Award
- Civil Contractors Federation Victoria, silver for Small Training Provider of the Year Award
- Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, bronze for Industry Collaboration Award
- V/Line, bronze for Large Employer of the Year Award.
