Establishing Recycling Victoria

Recycling Victoria will oversee the waste and recycling sector from 1 July 2022

Recycling Victoria will provide statewide leadership, stewardship and oversight of the waste and recycling sector. It will have a strong regional focus and presence across the state.

Recycling Victoria will foster sustainable, resilient and effective markets, supporting the state's transition to a circular economy. To reduce risks and promote best practice, Recycling Victoria will track and report on waste management and recycling.

Recycling Victoria will support strategic procurement and contract management by councils and Alpine Resort Management Boards for better value and services.

Recycling Victoria's role will evolve over time per legislative change and informed by input from across the sector.

A Charter of Engagement will detail how Recycling Victoria will consult and engage with councils, Alpine Resort Management Boards, industry, regional communities and Traditional Owners.

Recycling Victoria will work alongside other areas of the Victorian Government to strengthen the waste and recycling sector.

Establishing Recycling Victoria is a key part of the Victorian Government’s circular economy plan.
