[Upbeat music]
[Rob Latham – Music Associate]
It is so great to be back face to face, doing Spectacular again. We’re all back in the building, the energy’s there, the excitement, everyone’s so happy to be around, singing, dancing and acting again.
[Nathan Scerri – Associate Music Director]
Hearing the kids come together and creating something special and being able to respond in live time is just absolutely the best thing ever.
[Music builds]
[Students play music instruments, sing, and practice dance moves]
[Ashley Lucey-Jannert – Principal Vocalist and Dancer]
It’s really definitely an amazing feeling to be back in the studio with all of my friends singing and dancing.
[Emily Baker – Principal Vocalist]
It’s been amazing to be with people, performing with people around you, it’s so much better.
[Rose Hanratty – Principal Vocalist]
We’re all together and so fun and we can work off each other’s energy and it’s really good.
[Deon Nuku – Dance Director]
There’s definitely a different energy about it all, and I think you know, we’re a little bit more grateful for what we have you know, we realised what we didn’t have for a long time.
[Emily Baker – Principal Vocalist]
This is our intensive week so this is the first time we’re dancing with Principal Dancers and the first time I’ve actually seen the orchestra rehearse in a very long time.

[Ashley Lucey-Jannert – Principal Vocalist and Dancer]
Obviously, being a performer, rehearsing in studios you need to be able to connect with people because when you’re in a room full of people and you’re rehearsing and performing and everything, you need the energy that’s there, because the energy, you get so much more hyped up, it just makes rehearsals so much more fun, and it makes you feel like a family.
[Two students ride unicycles]
The theme of this year’s show is Live Louder and for me that just means personally just getting back to a normal way of living, starting to connect more with people.
[Intensive upbeat music]

Every kid, every young performer needs that opportunity to express themselves and be really happy about who they are, and turning up the volume, not only just with your voice but with your whole heart and soul is I think what Live Louder is about.
[Deon Nuku – Dance Director]
It’s like finding a voice, you know, trying to live and be prosperous through the way you want to be, whether it be through the arts, or having a voice for yourself and through entertainment.
[Emily Baker – Principal Vocalist]
Finally, we can live the loudest that we can, and we haven’t been able to do that for a very long time.
[Nathan Scerri – Associate Music Director]
You can’t really silence these kids, and you can’t get rid of this show, and their voice, and their creativity is going to find a way through, and it will come through, even a pandemic. You can’t stop them from being who they are.
[Intensive upbeat music]
