Tier 3: Targeted and crisis mental health response in schools

Support for individual students with complex mental health needs or in crisis.

In Tier 3, schools:

  • provide targeted support for students with the most complex mental health needs
  • use specialised support.

Tier 3 interventions are targeted to individuals or small groups of students who are identified as requiring intensive tailored mental health support.

They are most effective when delivered in partnership with families and mental health professionals.
